Motorsports fans to battle it out in Croatia
10 December 2008Motorsports fans will be heading to Croatia next year as 15 teams compete in the Caucasian Challenge.
At the end of August next year the competition will begin, starting in Hungary and running through other European countries, including Croatia.
The challenge runs over 16 days and see contestants travel across 7,800 kilometres, with applicants already signing up for the 2009 event.
Many competitors will get to see parts of the country which are not usually seen by tourists, with the tour running through Croatia and Montenegro.
This year's route will make the competition harder compared to last year, as the track goes into more mountainous areas and remote locations of the participating countries.
Challengers will head around the course on a variety of vehicles, from Toyota Land Cruisers to old Soviet Moskvitches, providing a variety of abilities.
Organisers are expecting around 50 teams to enter the competition.
Teams entering the Caucasian Challenge can range between one and four people and are able to plot their own route as long as they meet checkpoints.
