Mount Srd 'is a highlight of Dubrovnik holiday'
29 November 2010Travellers who opt to enjoy a holiday in Dubrovnik over the coming months may be wise to bear in mind a recommendation of Mount Srd.
The city's tourist board advises future visitors the rock structure, which overlooks the ancient resort, is one of its top ten sights.
At 413 metres tall, Mount Srd was a strategic military point during the time of Napoleon about 200 years ago.
These days, it is home to some of Croatia's most spectacular views, with people able to look over the iconic red rooftops of Dubrovnik or out to sea, where the crystal-clear waters of the Adriatic can be seen for miles.
Also on offer is a fascinating museum located in Fort Imperial, where holidaymakers could spend an hour or two for a change of scene.
Earlier this summer, a cable car linking the Old Town area of Dubrovnik and the summit of Mount Srd was reopened.
