New Year's Party set for Dubrovnik holidaymakers

People looking to mark the arrival of the new year with a special party may be wise to head to Dubrovnik for a holiday over the festive season.

The city's tourism board has announced it is holding a seasonal bash in the heart of the ancient resort on December 31st, as visitors prepare to welcome 2011.

Some of the region's finest musicians will be in attendance to play traditional carols and other tunes throughout the whole day.

Following the conclusion of these performances, livelier artists will take to the stage in order to bring out the party spirit in everybody.

And those waking up with a slightly sore head on January 1st will be delighted to note the soft sounds of the Dubrovnik Symphony Orchestra will be heard in the Stradun, the city's main street.

People who cannot make it to Dubrovnik in late December may instead like to book a trip for April, when the first Triathlon will be taking place on the nearby island of Korcula.
