New company to take charge of Croatian Airlines baggage handling
01 August 2008Croatia Airlines and five other members of Star Alliance will entrust the Menzies Aviation company with their baggage handling services at Heathrow Airport from October 1st.
It is hoped the new firm will allow passengers travelling to Croatia from the major international hub to enjoy improved quality of service.
Menzies Aviation will also be responsible for check-in, first class and special services at Terminal 1 of the airport.
Lee Hock Lye, Star Alliance Products and Services vice president, says the joint tender will help it save around one million euros (£788,148) per year.
"Our business consists of ensuring our customers are able to deliver their passengers and respective baggage safely and on time to their destinations," executive commercial vice president Phillip Harnden adds.
Star Alliance recently opened a new lounge in Terminal 1 which will be available to all first and business class passengers on Croatia Airlines flights, as well as Star Alliance Gold Card holders.
