New ferry to link Croatia and Serbia
16 October 2009Tourists in Croatia may be pleased to learn of a new ferry route that could make travelling around the Baltic countries easier.
Croatia and Serbia will be linked next year by a new £900,000 ferry, reports the Croatian Times.
Travellers in Vukovar in the east of Croatia will be able to catch the boat to Brac in Serbia.
A wooden ferry currently in use on the route - which carried 6,500 passengers in 2008 - will be scrapped when the new ferry is delivered in 12 months.
The ferry is being funded by the Dutch government, which also paid for the wooden ferry upon its introduction in 2007.
Dutch ambassador to Croatia Maria Trooster said the ferry would help to improve relations between Croatia and Serbia.
It was reported yesterday (October 15th) by the Croatian Times that a £22 million super ship has docked in Croatia to transport oil around the region.
