New flight route provides Spaniards with Croatia holiday option

New twice-weekly flights directly linking Zagreb and Madrid could provide greater incentive for Spaniards to take a Croatia holiday.

Citing reports from the Hina news agency, the Croatian Times noted that the direct flights offered by Iberia will operate on Saturdays and Sundays until September 20th.

However, Manual Lopez Colmenarejo, commercial director at Iberia, noted that if the route proves to be a success, Iberia would consider continuing the weekend flights until the end of 2009.

Mr Colmenarejo made the comments during a reception held in Zagreb to celebrate the arrival of the first Airbus A-320 on Saturday (July 4th), which had a total of 140 passengers.

People planning a summer Croatia holiday may be interested in taking in some of the upcoming events set to be held in Zagreb.

Irish rock band U2 is set to play at Maksimir Stadium in August, while this month will see the 43rd International Folklore Festival come to the city.
