New flights from Croatia could help tourists see more of Europe
24 March 2010Tourists planning a multi-destination tour of Europe including Croatia this summer may be interested to learn that the country's airline is to open a route to Athens.
Croatia Airlines will start flying from Zagreb to the Greek capital on June 1st, with flights set for Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays, according to the Privredni vjesnik website.
The route could provide travellers looking to jet off to two of the continent's most historic countries with the ideal link, while Greeks may see this as the perfect opportunity to visit Croatia.
A round trip will cost 134 (£120), the news provider reveals.
Croatia's national carrier already offers flights to other Balkan cities, such as Sarajevo and Podgorica, making it possible for tourists to take in much more than just Croatia.
Tonci Peovic, director of Zagreb Airport, recently revealed he is in talks with budget airlines easyJet and Ryanair with a view to adding new routes between Croatia and the rest of Europe.
