Set for completion in 2010, the shopping centre, to be named Arena Zagreb, will cost €224 million (£193 million), according to the Croatian Times.

TriGranit, the firm employed to oversee the construction, claims that Arena Zagreb will be one of the biggest shopping centres in the region once construction on the project has been completed, covering an area of 175,000 square metres.

In addition, the company states that it will use advanced technology to produce top of the range features in shopping and entertainment, meaning that there will be lots to offer for people on holiday in Croatia.

With over 200 shops, a market, restaurants and cinemas, there will be something for everyone.

Arena Zagreb will also be adapted to meet the needs of disabled people.

Sports enthusiasts on a Croatian holiday may also want to check out Zagreb Arena during their stay.

The multi-purpose sports complex opened last December and has so far received 250,000 visitors, attracted by sporting, musical and political events.

Visitors in the 2009-2010 season can expect to see Depeche Mode, the Backstreet Boys and Eros Ramazzotti among the listed performers.
