New terminal could increase travel to Dubrovnik in 2010
23 December 2009Dubrovnik Airport is set to end the year with a profit of 2.7 million (£2.4 million) - perhaps revealing that travel to Croatia is still popular, despite the recession.
Airport boss Roko Tolic told the Croatian Times that he was "satisfied" with the results, bearing in mind the period of economic decline.
He is anticipating a two per cent rise in passenger numbers next year, due mainly to the forthcoming opening of the airport's new terminal.
The terminal, built at a cost of about 22 million (£2.7 million), is expected to bring the total number of visitors up to almost 1.2 million, the publication reveals.
Airlines with a strong presence at Dubrovnik Airport include Croatia Airlines, British Airways and easyJet, with the most travellers arriving from Britain.
EasyJet has linked Dubrovnik with six European resorts in 2009, while the airport is also in negotiations with Ryanair to open routes.
Travelling through the Dubrovnik region of Croatia is an "immense and rich experience", according to Dubrovnik-online.
