New transport links 'make Croatia popular destination'

Croatia is a popular place for people to travel to because of its new transport links, according to a property investment company.

With more flights being introduced to the country and the completion of new motorways it is much easier to visit, Investment Group Croatia says.

Property investment in central Dalmatia in the country is also attracting people because prices are still relatively low compared to other areas.

Andrea Marston, general manager at Investment Group Croatia, said a new motorway was completed last year which is bringing in Germans, Austrians and Czechs.

"Ryanair now fly into Zadar and easyJet is now flying into Split as well as other airlines from other parts of Europe," she added.

According to the Croatian Bureau of Statistics, there were 2.92 million visitors to the country in August 2008, an increase of four per cent from August 2007.

The number of foreign tourists also increased by four per cent to 2.66 million.
