Opera idol to sing in Zagreb
26 October 2009Opera fans may want to book a trip to Croatia because the legendary Jose Carreras will perform at a charity concert in Zagreb in December, reports the Croatian Times.
Carreras, perhaps best known for his role in the Three Tenors alongside Luciano Pavarotti and Placido Domingo, has agreed to appear at the event at Arena Hall which is to be conducted by Croatian Ivo Lipanovic.
Also performing at the prestigious concert will be Toni Cetinski, Ireland's premier soprano Celine Byrne and the Zagreb Philharmonic Orchestra.
But it is Carreras who will surely be the biggest attraction on December 19th.
The Barcelona-born tenor shot to fame in the 1970s and 1980s with his distinguished voice, but it was his performance of Nessun Dorma with Pavarotti and Domingo at the 1990 World Cup that will be most remembered.
Earlier this month it was announced that iconic British pop group the Pet Shop Boys will play a concert at the same venue on November 29th.
