Oyster event 'makes Dubrovnik winter holiday worthwhile'
30 November 2010Such is the quality of oysters on offer in Dubrovnik, a winter holiday may actually be more enjoyable than one in the heat of summer.
That is the view of the city's tourist board, which states the Oyster Festival due to take place in March is sure to enhance any trip to the southern tip of Croatia.
Tourists who dine on the aphrodisiac delicacy, fished straight from the Adriatic Sea perhaps only hours earlier, are likely to hold the resort in high regard.
In fact, the organisation believes those people will think: "Dubrovnik is worth visiting in winter too. At that time it is a different and extraordinary city indeed."
The Oyster Festival often coincides with St Joseph's Day, so travellers to Croatia at this time may be able to join the celebrations for that too.
Dubrovnik is gearing up for a winter packed with quality events, including its annual carnival.
