Promotional event 'offers Croatia holidays to Americans'
17 December 2010A prestigious promotional event in New York has seen a tourism director invite Americans to become the most regular non-European travellers to Croatia.
Niko Bulic, a boss at the Croatian National Tourist Board, said 2010 has already seen a rise of 11 per cent in the number of people from North America visiting the Balkan nation, reports the Croatian Times, following an article by Vecernji List.
But tourism chiefs believe it can surge even further, with Americans and Canadians keen to experience the beauty of Croatia.
"We will concentrate on a stronger promotion in the United States and on even better cooperation with tour operators and agencies that offer arrangements in Croatia," noted Andrea Cvitkovic, head of the organisation in the Big Apple.
News of the tourism boost comes shortly after the Croatian Times reported the daily Vjesnik revealed arrivals at Zagreb Airport reached two million for the year, seven days earlier than the figure was recorded in 2009.
