Remember your mask when taking winter holiday in Dubrovnik

Tourists travelling to Dubrovnik this winter during the city's famous carnival period may be wise to remember to take a mask.

Covering the face with an intriguing design is one of the festival's popular traditions, according to the Dubrovnik Tourist Board.

Indeed, it is a practice held in such high esteem by locals that cooks with masks on line the streets to offer some of the city's tastiest delicacies.

These include sporchi macaroni, which along with doughnuts is said to be the must-have dish on the menu for the carnival's final day.

The opportunity to dress up as well as sample some authentic Croatian cooking may be tempting to many of the holidaymakers who like to gain a rich experience of a country when visiting.

People should head for Stradun, Dubrovnik's main street, in order to be at the centre of the celebrations.

Adriatica.net Group recently named the resort as a great place to spend New Year's Eve this year.
