Retirees recommended move to Croatia
07 May 2008Croatia has been praised as an ideal destination for people retiring abroad, by a property expert.
Rhiannon Davies, director of overseas property agent Amberlamb, called it "a stunning, beautiful, dramatic and incredibly fascinating country".
The cost of living in Croatia remains affordable, she claimed, while the quality of it is said to be "fabulous", with the climate attractive and the people welcoming.
Ms Davies predicted the country could become increasingly popular when it achieves accession to the European Union (EU).
She explained: "It is rising in terms of its appeal among would-be overseas retirees.
"I wouldnt be surprised if Croatia becomes something of an overseas retirement hotspot after it achieves EU entry."
Last week it was announced by the European Commissioner that the EU is seeking a "conditional roadmap" for Croatia to join the union.
Negotiations over the country's move to join the 27-nation group could be finalised by the end of next year, it was revealed.
