Self-catering in Croatia could be cost-effective
21 October 2009Britons planning a trip to Croatia may want to consider going on a self-catering basis in order to minimise costs.
Figures from holiday firm Hoseasons reveal bookings for self-catering breaks from UK holidaymakers are up by 30 per cent.
In the midst of a recession, taking the responsibility for buying food and drink while abroad can allow tourists to manage their budgets more effectively.
Richard Carrick, chief executive of Hoseasons, said: "The reason we have finished this year 30 per cent up [is because] the self-drive self-catering proposition appeals to people's sense of value at this particular time."
He believes the increase in people booking later and choosing self-catering deals is a result of the economic crisis.
Earlier this week price comparison site Moneysupermarket.com stated its belief that the holiday industry is in for a "tough time" this winter.
But a trip to Croatia, outside of the eurozone, could be the perfect answer for those looking for a beautiful budget break.
