Solo holiday in Croatia could be a great experience

People who are thinking of taking a holiday in Croatia may wish to take one expert's advice and not be afraid of travelling by themselves.

Tom Hall, travel editor of Lonely Planet, says there is nothing to lose by booking a break for one.

He adds this often results in a more positive experience and an increased willingness to try new things and meet different people.

"It's more socially acceptable to travel on your own than it has been in the past. Certainly the fact that people can make their own arrangements [means they] are more confident in doing so," Mr Hall explains.

Solo travellers to Croatia could target the country's most historic and fascinating areas in order to enjoy their time on their own, with sites such as Dubrovnik and Sibenik perhaps popular among such individuals.

The expert's advice comes after research published by LV= showed more than two million British holidaymakers will jet off for a break on their own in the next three months.
