Split to host Chagall exhibition

The Adriatic city of Split is to host an exhibition dedicated to the painter Marc Chagall from next month, according to the Croatian Times.

For three months from May 5th, the Dalmatian destination's Stara Gradska Vijecnica will be host to a plethora of works by the Russian-born artist.

Chagall, who spent much of his life working in France, was known for his propensity to adapt to a variety of media, including paint, ceramics, tapestries and stained glass.

Despite working in Europe, pieces by Chagall have been spread across the globe since his death at the age of 97 in 1985.

His creations and installations are currently held in galleries from Zuirch, to Chicago and New York.

Some of Chagall's most famous works include the Red Jew, Above the City and Composition with Circles and Goats, which were included in a 2007 exhibition, entitled Il Complesso del Vittoriano.
