Sting and Brian Adams signed up to save Adriatic
08 April 2009Rock legends Sting and Brian Adams have been signed up for a project to help protect the Croatian Adriatic.
The two performers, among a host of other artists, will perform on the island of Mljet as part of the Adriatic Aid event, according to the Croatian Times.
As reported by the newspaper, Dado Topic, a Croatian singer, told the daily publication Jutarnji List: "Sting and Brian Adams have confirmed they will join me in the project.
"I've got an idea for raising global attention to the need to protect the treasure called the Adriatic Sea."
Mr Topic added that he initially thought up the idea for the event from ecologically-themed songs performed by Mirko Matijas, a local teacher.
One of the most popular tourist destinations on the Adriatic coast is the ancient city of Dubrovnik, which can be accessed by direct flights from the UK through the airliner Flybe.
