Strength of pound 'makes holiday in Croatia even more affordable'

The pound is currently performing particularly well against other currencies, potentially making the cost of a holiday in Croatia cheaper than it has been for some time.

Foreign exchange company Travelex has confirmed sterling recently reached an 18-month high against the euro, while it is also faring positively versus the dollar and other money.

These currencies may include the Croatian kuna, of which approximately 8.8 currently equate to one pound.

The company advises people wishing to get the best rates ahead of their summer holiday to use a specialist and take a combination of cash and cards with them on their break.

It is not only visits to Croatia in the short term that could be especially affordable though, as one Bank of England member has voted to raise interest rates for the first time since they hit a record low – a positive sign for the state of the UK currency.

Among the spots Britons may be spending their kunas in this summer are the ancient city of Dubrovnik and the picturesque Istrian region.
