Summer holiday in Dubrovnik 'defined by long days in sun'
09 August 2010It is the weather that can perhaps best define a summer break in Dubrovnik, with visitors assured of long and hot days followed by eventful nights.
The Dubrovnik Tourist Board suggests there are a range of pleasant and enjoyable activities to be undertaken in the Croatian sun during the hottest months.
It states the city invites tourists to take a seat on the steps of St Blaises Church or next to the famous Orlando Column and soak up the rays.
Other ideas include splashing a few cool drops of water on a tanned face from the prestigious fountain while attempting an ancient tradition to take off a shirt while standing on one foot on the Franciscan Church gargoyle.
And when the historic monuments of Dubrovnik have been spotted, there are several miles of beautiful beaches to relax on.
Dubrovnik has a population of approximately 42,000, according to the 2001 census, while it is often dubbed the Pearl of the Adriatic by experts.
