Summer 'is a special time for Split holidays'

Tourists planning holidays in Split might be wise to head to the city during the summer months, when the weather is beautiful and a range of events are available.

The Croatian National Tourist Office has revealed between July 14th and August 14th Split hosts numerous festivals, performances and fairs.

A particularly common occurrence at this time of year is opera productions, which are put on in local venues and provide a memorable experience for people who watch.

It noted the streets in Diocletian's Palace are perfect for such performances as the acoustics lend themselves to amplifying the voices of some of the world's finest singers.

Jazz concerts, street theatre and films are also popular with organisers of the summer events in Split and are likely to go down well with those staying in Croatia accommodation.

Trogir – located just a short distance from Split – is currently hosting its Summer of Culture function, the tourism body has stated.
