Take Dubrovnik holiday for great diving
27 May 2010Diving has been named as an ideal reason to stay in accommodation in Dubrovnik, from where some of the most interesting waters in Europe are easily accessible.
The number of people taking diving holidays in Croatia has risen by about 20 per cent over the last decade, explains Global Adventures.
One reason for thi is the vast range of objects, shipwrecks and caves that lie beneath the country's waters.
Dubrovnik, at the southern end of Croatia, is perhaps the best place to start a diving break, as it offers history above and below the sea, the online publication states.
"Diving around the Elafiti Islands situated northwest of Dubrovnik is superb," it suggests, adding some of the most spectacular submerged caves can be found there.
There are also many species of fish in the Adriatic - just to add further excitement to a trip beneath the waves.
Earlier this year, a Greek vessel was found on the seabed off the shore of Croatia, thought to be carrying £5 million worth of cargo.
