Tom Cruise and Beyonce 'among celebs to have taken Dubrovnik holiday'

A plethora of A-list celebrities – such as singer Beyonce Knowles – have taken a holiday in Dubrovnik and explored the city's famous main street, Stradun.

According to a contributor to the Guardian's Been There feature, the highway – known as Placa to locals – is a magnet for the rich and famous.

In addition to the US songstress, Hollywood actors including Tom Cruise, Sean Connery, Kevin Spacey and Mickey Rourke are among those to have walked Stradun's length.

The writer notes this area invites visitors to "feel its rhythm", as it is a particularly trendy part of the ancient resort.

Indeed, one of the favourite times for tourists to travel to Dubrovnik and gather in Stradun is New Year's Eve, when the Fiesta St Blaise takes place.

The celebration has been named one of the world's top ten ways to celebrate the turn of the year.
