Travel expert details perfect day on holiday in Zadar

People heading to the historic resort of Zadar as part of their holiday in Croatia may wish to take note of the advice from one travel expert.

Natalie Paris, writing earlier this month for the Telegraph, suggests her ultimate day in the ancient town would start with a walk around the centre, taking in the seaside and the Monument to the Sun.

Other attractions to look out for during a morning stroll in Zadar include the Roman forum, of which there are still some remains, as well as the 12th-century cathedral.

Ms Paris then advises taking a lunch break at one of the spot's numerous restaurants, before spending the afternoon in the Krka National Park.

Finally, stay out late at a beachside festival, which are particularly popular with young travellers and often held in the nearby village of Petrcane.

Zadar has its own airport and is served from the UK by Ryanair, which offers a range of budget fares to the Dalmatian coast.
