Travel to Croatia for Festival of St Blaise
11 January 2011People who travel to Dubrovnik next month will be in a position to participate with the opening ceremony of the Festival of St Blaise.
The annual event, which is designed to celebrate the city's patron saint, begins with a procession of locals on February 2nd.
A number of religious commemorations, exhibitions and concerts follow, while there will also be a series of book presentations and theatre performances.
Statues of St Blaise adorn the famous city walls of Dubrovnik and can be found in numerous other locations, serving a permanent reminder of his importance to the resort and its residents.
His caring hand is said to have protected Dubrovnik and its citizens since becoming patron saint in 972 AD.
Other events coming up over the next few weeks in the popular holiday destination include the city's annual winter carnival and the Night of the Museums function, where guests are invited to explore displays in local exhibition houses for free.
