Travel to Croatia for diving holiday
13 May 2010The Adriatic Sea, just off the coast of Croatia, is the perfect place to indulge in a spot of diving while on holiday.
That is the view of Tourism Review, which points to "thousands of wrecks" and "undiscovered caves" as reasons for plunging in to the waters in Dalmatia.
Indeed, the diving industry in the region is said to have grown by up to 20 per cent in the last decade.
What sets Croatia apart from other diving destinations is the wealth of interesting objects on its seabed, with the Croatian Tourism Association suggesting there are up to 15,000 sunken ships, submarines and airplanes down below.
Facilities have also improved for those wishing to explore the waters while travelling in Croatia, with the number of registered diving centres on the coast rising to 100 in recent times.
Last month, it was reported that an ancient ship from Greece had been discovered at the bottom of the Adriatic, carrying millions of pounds worth of cargo.
