Travel to Croatia for top walking holiday

People who would like to take a walking holiday in Europe have been advised travelling to Croatia is one of the top options.

David Atkinson, writing for the Daily Telegraph, says he visited the island of Brac in order to seek out beautiful paths and complete challenges by foot.

The traveller notes the landmass, which is located a short ferry ride from the ancient city of Split, is one of the Adriatic's lesser known islands, despite being the third largest.

Mr Atkinson notes walking in Brac allows him to enjoy "a more cultural experience than your average beach holiday", while taking in some picturesque scenes.

Commenting on the island's pace of life, he writes: "The stony outcrop of olive groves and pine forests enjoys the tortoise-paced rhythm of a typically Mediterranean village."

Other major islands off Croatia's Dalmatian coast include Hvar, Krk and Korcula, all of which can be reached from the country's major cities.
