Travel to Croatia this month for authentic Christmas market
02 December 2010A traditional Christmas market is available to those who travel to Croatia later this month.
Held in the town of Otocac, the event starts on December 11th and will be opened by a local brass band that will perform a carol concert.
The Croatian National Tourist Board states it wishes to invite residents, citizens of Croatia and international tourists to join and enjoy the market, where the town's specialities such as Gacka will be on offer.
A host of culinary delights are due to be available, with sauerkraut, meat and potatoes likely to be a popular option – a meal the organisation suggests is typical of the region.
It can all be washed down with hot drinks, mulled wine and local brews to the sound of tamburitza music.
Other festive dates for the diary in Croatia include the winter carnivals of Rijeka and Dubrovnik, both of which are due to take place in 2010-11.
