Travel to Istria for 'Tuscany-style holiday at a fraction of the price'
01 December 2010Tourists who travel to Istria in northern Croatia are likely to find the region reminds them of the beautiful Italian area of Tuscany.
That is the view of Michael Gebicki, writing a piece for the Sydney Morning Herald, who says the Dalmatian coast is the place to be when it comes to this part of the world.
In particular, Istria is a place where the style and beauty is reminiscent of high-class Italy – only with a considerably smaller price tag attached.
"At the northern end of [the Dalmatian coast], the heart-shaped peninsula of Istria has more than a touch of Tuscany in its olive groves and hill towns, at a fraction of the price," states the author.
Among the highlights for holidaymakers in this part of Croatia are sure to be the quaint, historic towns that line the shore and the beautiful, unspoilt beaches.
Some of Istria's most significant settlements include ancient Pula and Rovinj.
