Travel to "mesmerising" Dubrovnik in winter for new experience
22 November 2010Travelling to Dubrovnik may be considered a special experience at any time of year, but doing so during the winter creates a brand new slant on the ancient city.
That is the view of the city's official tourism body, which suggests the "mesmerising and breathtaking" architecture on offer is sure to be a highlight.
One advantage of doing this during the months of December, January and February is that the majority of Europe is cold and potentially under snow, so heading to one of the few sun-kissed spots allows many to enjoy a rare burst of warmth.
Dubrovnik's unique red rooftops, cobbled streets and stone buildings will also look totally different at this time of year, so even those who have previously visited for a summer break can return to witness something new.
The tourist organisation notes sitting in the Stradun, the city's main street, to enjoy a coffee under the bright sun is a favourite pastime for many.
Among the airlines offering routes to Dubrovnik from the UK this winter are budget carrier easyJet and British Airways.
