Travellers 'planning Croatia holidays around festival'
30 March 2010The creative director at one of Croatia's largest music festivals has revealed many attendees book up to ten days in the country around its schedule.
Eddie O'Callaghan said organisers of the Garden Festival decided in 2008 to arrange the event over two weekends - something they labelled the Double Whammy.
This followed the realisation that "most" festival goers were booking a Croatia holiday of between seven and ten days to enjoy the music and explore the country.
The director says there are plenty of activities close to the Petrcane-based event - including boat parties, club nights and beach barbecues - to keep people entertained between the weekends.
Also on offer are trips to the nearby historical cities of Zadar and Split, both of which can be reached easily from Petrcane.
The former is just 20 minutes from the festival site and may provide the perfect location for a Croatian villa base for the duration.
