Travellers to Croatia could expect to enjoy top-quality wine

The quality of wine that tourists may be able to expect on holiday in Croatia has once more been illustrated by an award.

Croatian producer Agrolaguna sent its Castello Festigia 2007 to the Selections Mondiales des Vins, where it secured a gold medal, reports the Croatian Times.

Success at the event in Quebec, where competition came from 600 producers from 32 countries, may add credence to the theory that Croatia is one of the world's best up-and-coming wine-making nations.

It is the first time Agrolaguna has entered its produce in the competition, the newspaper explains.

Croatia has enjoyed success in the wine sector already this year, with the 2008 Grasevina Goldberg recently named as a winner at Vinalies Internationales in Paris.

Meanwhile, many people on holiday in Croatia may have enjoyed the country's largest wine festival - named Vinovita - in April, which took place over four days in Zagreb, the publication previously detailed.
