Travellers to Croatia offered currency tips
21 October 2010People heading abroad in the coming months, including those taking holidays in Croatia, may wish to take note of advice on foreign currency.
Nick Trend, writing for the Daily Telegraph, says taking only a little local money is a wise move, as exchanging pounds for kunas in the UK could be unfavourable.
Instead, relying on cash machines in the country upon arrival is the best way to tackle the task of withdrawing notes.
The author suggests while this is not perfect, as banks apply a minimum charge and a worse rate than normal, it still works out cheaper than buying face-to-face.
"Use your debit card to obtain cash and your credit card to pay for as much as possible. As long as you clear your balance each month, you will be quids in," Mr Trend states.
Travellers to Croatia are likely to have to settle for a little less than the official exchange rate, which currently sees £1 worth approximately 8.26 kunas.
