Travellers to Croatia 'should carry cash and cards'
29 January 2010A mix of cash and cards is the best way to finance a trip abroad - such as a Croatian holiday - according to the Post Office.
Carrying notes to pay for transport, drinks and souvenirs is always ideal, but relying solely on cash could be risky so it is always best to take plastic payment too.
Sarah Munro, head of the Post Office's travel services, said that debit and credit cards can now be used at ATM's and in restaurants in overseas destinations - which could include Split, Dubrovnik and Zagreb.
However, she advised: "For those who prefer the flexibility offered by credit cards, we urge people to save money by choosing a product which does not charge them any commission for overseas usage."
According to recent research by Santander, more than half of Britons heading overseas intend to take cash as their primary source of finance, with 20 per cent opting for a credit card.
