Travellers to Osijek set for investment boost
22 April 2010Tourists with the Slavonia region of Croatia on their shortlist for an upcoming holiday may be interested to learn that one of the area's premier cities is to undergo renovation.
Osijek, located in the east of the country, will benefit from the construction of a new bridge, allowing visitors to cross to the left shore of Drina, reports the Croatian Times.
Improvements do not end there though, with a revamp of Trg Slobode - the city's central square - also on the agenda for planning bosses.
The urban area also intends to create up to 500 new jobs, which could result in an improved service offered to travellers in the region.
It is thought many of these will be accommodated in Nemetin, the business zone of Croatia's fourth largest city, the newspaper explains.
One of the highlights for many visitors to Croatia is the Church of St Peter and Paul, which can be found in central Osijek.
