Two million people take flights to Croatian capital
16 December 2010Zagreb Airport has welcomed its two millionth arrival of the year, perhaps indicating the popularity of travelling to Croatia at the moment.
The Croatian Times reports the daily Vjesnik as stating the landmark figure was reached on Tuesday (December 14th), with local man Vesna Crnic in the right place at the right time.
Rijeka resident Mr Crnic was presented with coupons by the airport, a lunch for four and credit for an internet cafe that has just opened at the travel hub.
Croatia Airlines added to the prize by handing out two free return flights to any European destination to the winner, the news source notes.
By reaching the figure seven days earlier than last year, the airport may be symbolic of a rise in the number of people taking a holiday in the Balkan nation.
