UK holidaymakers prefer Europe's sandy beaches
03 July 2008UK holidaymakers have said their favourite type of holiday spot is somewhere in Europe which has a sandy beach, it has been revealed.
Research by Abbey Savings has found destinations with sandy beaches, destinations in Europe and ones with as few Brits as possible are the most popular among UK travellers.
Croatia's Brela beach, an hour outside of Split, has been described by Croatia Beaches as "a beautiful full six km of white pebbly beach" and an ideal place for families.
Forbes magazine has also recently placed it in the top 20 beaches of the world.
The report also revealed that over a quarter of people in the UK are planning a break to European destinations like Croatia this summer and 62 per cent have been saving over the past year to be able to afford their holiday.
However, almost quarter also said they will be able to pay for their trip to Europe out of their earnings without having to save.
