Vapiano chain heading to Croatia

Anyone opting to stay in Croatian villas in the coming years may be able to enjoy evenings in one of the sought-after Vapiano restaurants.

Over the next three years, the global brand will be opening new eateries in the country, as well as neighbouring nations.

In mid-May, there will be one launched in Usce Shopping Mall in Belgrade, Serbia, ahead of Croatia, Slovenia and Bosnia and Herzegovina welcoming the company to their shores in the near future.

People opting for a vacation in Croatia may have dined in a Vapiano in the US, Germany, Belgium, Estonia, England or the Netherlands.

Last year, the brand was voted one of 2008's Hot Concepts! by Nation's Restaurant News.

This award came after Vapiano claimed the coveted 2006 European Hot Concept Award from Food Service Europe & Middle East.

Kent Hahne, Vapiano president, said at the time: "We are very proud to receive this great honour at such an early stage in our US development."
