Visit Dubrovnik for "great" food

One recent traveller to Dubrovnik has told of the excellent standard of food he enjoyed in the city.

The unnamed tourist noted the ancient city on Croatia's Dalmatian coast is ideal for a range of vast range of cuisine.

He told the Parentheses website of a "great" Roman pizza he enjoyed, while other highlights included large sandwiches with prosciutto, salami and provolone.

"Here in Dubrovnik we've had nice risotto, grilled squid and now Bosnian food - [which is] similar to Turkish," he explained.

Many visitors to the walled city note its seafood offering as one of the highlights of their trip, with Dubrovnik's seaside location ensuring a regular supply of fresh fish.

Some could use their holiday as a chance to take to the sea and catch their dinner themselves, with a number of boats on hand to be boarded by tourists.

Others may wish to simply relax on the beach, or use the new cable car that is due to open on June 1st.
