Visit "lost-in-time villages" on holiday in Croatia

Travellers to Croatia who choose to explore the natural wonder of Brac can come across a trio of "lost-in-time" villages should they wish to.

David Atkinson, writing for the Daily Telegraph, says such a trip is a far cry from the livelier side of the island, including restaurants, bars and parties.

He began his voyage at the first of the ancient settlements, Lozisca, where the landscape is dominated by a Baroque bell tower that is listed by UNESCO.

As he treks slightly uphill the next village of Bobovisca comes into sight, before he ends the walk at St Martin's, a 1,000-year-old church on a hillside overlooking Milna.

Mr Atkinson describes the scene, stating: "As the sun sets, the path drops down to the tiny harbour of Bobovisca na Moru and the statue of Vladimir Nazor, one of Croatia's best-known writers."

Brac is just one of approximately 1,200 islands located off Croatia's Dalmatian coast, with other popular examples including Hvar, Krk and Korcula.
