Visitors to Croatia enjoy "stunning landscapes" and "medieval cities"
26 March 2010Those planning a holiday in Croatia in the coming months have been promised a host of historic and natural spots of beauty.
"Croatia has stunning landscapes, medieval cities [and] a spectacular coastline with some of the clearest waters in the Mediterranean," says Meri Matesic, director at the Croatian National Tourist Office.
The expert points to some 1,244 islands, a plethora of unexplored and picturesque mountains and numerous lakes and rivers as being among the highlights for tourists with a passion for the great outdoors.
But visitors to the country seeking history and culture will arguably leave equally impressed.
Ms Matesic puts forward the Roman amphitheatres in Pula, Emperor Diocletian's palace in Split and the ancient walls of Dubrovnik as just some of the best bits Croatia has to offer.
Earlier this week, the tourism director noted visitors to Croatia can also expect to enjoy good value for money compared with holidays in the eurozone.
