Weather should be ideal for winter sports holidays in Croatia
14 October 2010Conditions are predicted to be perfect for people taking a winter sports holiday in Croatia over the coming months.
The country has built itself a reputation as one of Europe's up-and-coming ski destinations, with its affordability over more traditional spots a key factor in its rise to the forefront of the market.
And this year may just be the best yet, with the Croatian Times reporting the daily Jutarnji List as suggesting Croatia is bracing itself for a freezing winter.
Several meteorologists are already forecasting sub-zero temperatures and many believe it will drop below the 2009 record of minus-20 degrees Celsius.
"This winter is likely to be somewhat colder than the last and colder than the average," Kristijan Bozarov of weather website Crometeo tells the news source.
Skiers and snowboarders looking for the best of Croatia should head inland, with flights to Zagreb and other northern airports a good choice.
