Wood festival comes to Zagreb
13 October 2009Zagreb's famous Ambienta Festival kicks off today, reports the Croatian Times.
The event will feature more than 500 exhibits of furniture and interior decoration from 24 countries.
The 36th annual festival is one of the highlights of the year in Europe for wood processing and furniture enthusiasts.
Furniture manufacturers and designers will display their work alongside new and innovative designs for interior decoration.
According to a survey, the Croatian wood processing and furniture industry considers Ambienta to be the biggest event of the year.
More than 30,000 Croatians are employed in the wood industry, with exports from the country totalling around £630 million in 2008.
Ambienta is a significant marketing tool for advertising Croatia's wood industry to overseas investors and may also interest furniture fans from across Europe.
The Zagreb Museum of Contemporary Art is also set to open later this year and will be Croatia's largest and most modern exhibition.
