Young golfers head to Croatia
02 October 2008Golfing enthusiasts from West Lothian are to travel to Croatia to compete with other European clubs, it has been revealed.
Nine people from Bathgate and Harburn golf clubs will travel to the country later this month to play against Croatian players, in a week-long event, icWestLothian.co.uk reports.
It is the third trip of this kind to be organised, with the attendees having to compete in two qualifying events to get the opportunity.
Stuart Callan, a professional at the Bathgate club, has organised the event after having previously worked in Zagreb.
He told the website: "The first trip in 2005 proved to be very successful and some of the clubs we visited were keen to become involved in supporting ongoing connections."
The money for the trips comes from fundraising via a series of events and means all juniors can attend.
It was recently reported the construction of golf courses in the Istria region was a strategic move for the development of the area.
