Zadar is "perfect" holiday destination
09 August 2010People searching for a summer holiday destination may find the "perfect" spot in Zadar, Croatia, according to one expert.
Natalie Paris, writing for the Telegraph, says the southern part of the country - including its premier resort of Dubrovnik - is "saturated with sunseekers" at this time of year.
Therefore, those looking for a little peace and quiet on their annual break may be wise to head north, where rich and historic land lies that remains largely undiscovered by tourists.
"Here you can wander quiet streets of marble, sprawl undisturbed on pine-scented beaches and sail to remote islands, deserted except for tiny konobas - restaurants catering mostly to fishermen," the writer explains.
She adds the ancient town of Zadar also boasts a "dramatic coastline" with a broad hinterland.
Travellers may wish to make use of routes offered by Ryanair between London Stansted and Zadar Airport, while the Croatian spot is also linked to the Scottish capital of Edinburgh.
