Zagreb dance centre opens to the public
28 October 2009Dancing fans thinking of booking a trip to Croatia may be pleased to learn that Zagreb has finally reopened the doors of its dance centre which closed in 2005.
The facility has been renovated at a cost of around £4.5 million, reports the Croatian Times.
It was officially back in business earlier this week after an opening ceremony at which director Mirna Zagar said the centre would provide a base for learning and practising dance.
The Zagreb dance centre was the first such facility in Croatia and may have provided entertainers for many of the country's leading shows.
Ms Zagar said: "We have been waiting for this centre for more than 50 years. During that period 40 dance groups have been founded. They finally have a place in the city centre."
The Croatian capital has a rich history of dance and is known as the epicentre of contemporary dance in Central Europe.
Earlier this month the Theatre Night project was announced - a scheme that will allow people in Croatia to watch shows for free at 34 different locations for one night only.
