Zagreb's main square 'is a must-see for those on Croatia holidays'
16 December 2010People on holiday in Croatia should head to the main square in Zagreb, which has now been handed an award by a travel blog.
Belgian publication Stedentripper.com has identified Trg Bana Josipa – the home of numerous events throughout the year – as one of the 20 most beautiful squares in Europe, the Croatian Times reports Jutarnji List as reporting.
Its inclusion on the esteemed list follows a rise in tourism in the capital city in recent times, with 21 per cent more people heading to in July compared with the same month in 2009.
"I think this is a great result and I am proud of it. It is unbelievable that they even considered us, considering the extent of the competition," Darja Juzbasic, head of the Zagreb Tourist Board's public relations department tells the news source.
People looking for cheap flights to Croatia can book with budget airline easyJet, which runs a direct service between London and Zagreb Airport.
